Classic Black and White introduction
The kilns of Kalong were first reported in a paper read to the Siam Society by Phraya Nakorn Phra Ram in 1935, but doubt as to their very existance was still being expressed as late as 1980. Only when the Tak Hilltop Burial Sites were found in 1984 was the genius of Kalong black and white wares revealed - and remember that only dishes and bowls seem to have been used as grave furniture. |
